Han pasado 16 años, desde que escuché por primera vez DOMINANCE, “Anthems of Ancient Splendour” (1999), una obra de Death Metal brutal, procedente de Italia. En 2009 se edita “Echoes of Human Decay”. La banda en activo desde 1995, los miembros originales: Davide Tognoni – Bateria y Saverio Rossi – Bajo; reclutan a: Gabriel Cavazinni–Guitarra, Massimiliano Marri – Voces y Luca Alzapiedi – Guitarra Rítmica.

El 31 de marzo de 2016, se lanza “XX: The Rising Vengeance”, bajo el sello Sliptrick Records, un larga duración que contiene 10 cortes. Death Metal cargado de diferentes influencias y variaciones que alimentan el nuevo sonido de DOMINANCE.

Hay cosas que no han cambiado: todos sus trabajos inician con una intro, en este trabajo contenida en 2:31 minutos, "XX" como título. Nos dejan recordar la escencia del sonido de la banda, obscuro, misterioso, contundente, destellos de calidad técnica y compositiva.

En “Journey To a New Life”, un ataque directo con una batería en velocidad thrash, un riff de guitarra juega con los silencios y la velocidad. La voz de Massimiliano irrumpe en los primeros segundos del corte. La contundencia contenida en esta obra es clara.

El tercer corte, “This Is War”, nuevamente la voz está presente desde el inicio, un ataque directo a la yugular, sin dejar descanso entre un tema y otro. Se ha asimilado bastante las nuevas tendencias extremas, entre ellas el metalcore.

“Into the Fog”, nos deja un descanso. Inicia de forma menos contundente, pero nos deja disfrutar de diferentes registros vocales. Cambios de ritmo constantes, el trabajo de Davide en la batería y el doble pedal es de precisión. Un largo e intenso grito marca el camino al final del cuarto track.

En el quinto corte, “Twisted”, aunque se inicia con un dulce sonido de baja intensidad, pronto volvemos a la propuesta inicial. Guitarra, voz y batería, irrumpen al mismo tiempo.

“Dear Next Victim”, es el sexto corte. El registro vocal en gran parte del track me recuerda a Phil Anselmo. Apartado del Death Metal brutal, pasean su sonido por algunas de sus influencias como “In Flames”, con mejores resultados. Es uno de los temas que yo recomiendo

El ataque sonoro en “Breathless”, no da respiro, sin tregua.

El track “Just a Reflection” se convierte en un tema inmenso. Como si se quisiera experimentar, arriesga con otros estilos musicales. Si en los primeros cortes la intensidad es la seña de identidad, luego algunas variaciones densas, con matices del sonido Goteborg. Se guardaba lo mejor, en el apartado de creación para este tema progresivo.

“Time to Pay”, un inicio trepidante en 20 segundos, veloz, poderío vocal, con un riff cortante. Un interludio de calma al minuto 3:34, acompañado del sonido de una tormenta, en segundo plano. 76 segundos de calma, y volver a destrozar todo a su paso hasta el final del track.

Llegamos al tema final “Rise Again”. Sin perder velocidad y contundencia, se vuelve a mezclar diferentes estilos e influencias. Una gran tema que supera los 7 minutos. Una gran creación.

Un trabajo completo en lo musical y vocal, solos de guitarra veloces, batería sin descanso. Se mezclan diferentes estilos e influencias. Grandes arreglos y riffs trabajados. Los arreglos melódicos quitan intensidad en algunos pasajes.

16 years have passed since the first time I heard DOMINANCE, "Anthems of Ancient Splendour" (1999), a work of brutal Death Metal from Italy. In 2009 was published "Echoes of Human Decay". The band active since 1995, the original members: Davide Tognoni – Battery and Saverio Rossi – Bass; recruit: Gabriel Cavazinni – Guitar, Massimiliano Marri – Voices and Luca Alzapiedi – Rythm Guitar.

On March 31, 2016, it releases "XX: The Rising Vengeance" in the label Sliptrick Records, a full-length that contains 10 tracks. Death Metal full of different influences and variations that feed the new sound of DOMINANCE.

"Into the Fog" leaves us a break. Starts less forceful way, but let us enjoy different vocal registers. Constant changes of rhythm, the work of Davide on drums and double pedal is precision. A long and intense scream marks the way to the end of the fourth track.

In the fifth track "Twisted”, although it starts with a sweet sound of low intensity, soon we’ll return to the initial proposal. Guitar, vocals and drums burst at the same time.

"Dear Next Victim" is the sixth track. The vocal register on this track reminds me Phil Anselmo. Section of Death Metal brutal, walk their sound by some of his influences as "In Flames", with better results. It is one of the issues that recommend.

The sound attack in "Breathless", does not break, without truce.
