Crítica: The Howling Void – The Triumph of Ruin (2016)

Desde Texas, EEUU, llega a nuestros oídos el nuevo trabajo del proyecto The Howling Void. Ryan es el artífice de esta oda al Funeral Doom Atmosférico, lleva en activo desde 2007, éste es su quinto LP. Tiene por título “The Triumph of Ruin”, y se liberó en enero de 2016 en formato digital, y en marzo en formato físico.

Estamos ante una inmensa obra creativa, contenida en un poco más de 38 minutos y dividida en 6 tracks. Considerando su EP anterior “Runa”, podemos observar la evolución del sonido hacia abismos menos obscuros, desde su inicial Funeral Doom cargado de pesadez, ahora ha llegado a desarrollar atmósferas impregnadas de melancolía, en lo que podríamos llamar Doom “post” Fúnebre.

Conserva los mejores detalles de su forma de componer, como las atmósferas cargadas de emotividad, extensas partes instrumentales con adornos de violines, lejos aún de observar atisbos de luz en su música, aunque la intensidad ha disminuido en obscuridad. Considero que es un trabajo brillante y cuidado en su conjunto.

El piano limpio acompañado de violines, produce emociones intensas, se extraña la falta de gruñidos profundos. La velocidad a la que se suceden las composiciones te deja absorber toda su melancolía y fatalidad. La voz limpia sobre las atmósferas volátiles, complementa de forma perfecta las composiciones cargadas de tristeza.

Todo el conjunto de piezas musicales, poseen esa magia que te hace querer volver a escucharlas, ese hilo hipnótico, lo más parecido a un mantra. Pero si buscas algo de tristeza y sosiego te recomiendo “Lords of Barren Fields”, “The Nine Worlds Wept” y “Fenrir”, algo más contundentes y épicas: “The Looming Darkness“, “Where Once a River Flowed”.

El corte final, “El Silencio Antes de la Tormenta”, un gran tema para sellar esta obra sublime, con acordes simples y sencillos de guitarra, logran atrapar tus sentidos, entre las voces y los adornos del violín nos dejan caer en su obscuro encanto. Recomendado si quieres exorcizar tus miedos, meditar el dolor interior de perder seres queridos.

From Texas, USA, comes to our ears the new work of the project The Howling Void. Ryan is the author of this Ode to the atmospheric Funeral Doom , takes in active since 2007, this is their fifth LP. It is entitled "The Triumph of Ruin", and was released in January 2016, in digital format, and in March in physical format.

We have a great creative work, contained in a little more than 38 minutes and divided in 6 tracks. Considered their previous EP "Rune", we can observe the evolution of the sound towards less dark abysses, the heavy funeral doom of the early days developed little by little into a melancholic "post-funeral doom" atmosphere.

It preserves the best details for his way of composing, as the atmosphere charged with emotion, extensive instrumental parts with decorations of violins, away still see glimpses of light in his music, although the intensity has decreased in dark. I believe that it is a bright and care work as a whole.

The piano clean accompanied of violins, produces emotions intense, is strange the lack of deep grunts. The speed to which is happen the compositions you leaves absorb all their melancholy and doom. The clean voice on the volatile atmospheres, complements perfectly the sorrow-laden compositions.

The whole set of musical pieces, have that magic that makes you want to listen to them, that hypnotic thread, as in a loop. But if you are looking for something of sadness and calm, I recommend you, “Lords of Barren Fields”, “The Nine Worlds Wept” and “Fenrir”, something more forceful and epic: “The Looming Darkness”, “Where eleven to River Flowed”.

The final cut, "The silence before the storm", a great item to seal this sublime work, with simple and plain guitar chords, they manage to catch your senses, between the voices and the ornaments of the violin drop us on its dark charm. Preferred if want to exorcise your fears, meditate the pain inside of losing beings dear.
