Crítica: Stortregn – Singularity (2016)

Stortregn es una banda formada en Ginebra, Suiza, en el año 2005, anteriormente conocida como Divine’s Smile y durante el 2006 como Addict Repulsion, a partir de ese mismo año pasan a llamarse Stortregn. Su discografía cuenta con una demo, un EP, un split junto a Kaos Vortex, Eternal Storm y Will of the Ancients, además de tres álbumes de larga duración. El último de ellos fue lanzado el 27 de mayo del año 2016 y se titula “Singularity”, a través de Non Serviam Records.

En “Singularity” encontramos un disco de Blackened Death Metal muy melódico y fuertemente influenciado por los suecos Dissection. Durante los 45 minutos que dura el álbum, el protagonista absoluto son las melodías de guitarra, las cuales van desde melodiosos y grandilocuentes riffs, hasta pasajes acústicos y solos que rozan el Progresivo en ocasiones. Además, la sección rítmica no se limita únicamente a marcar el ritmo, sino que se torna indispensable a la hora de construir la base de las canciones debido al dinamismo que desprende, haciendo uso de varios cambios de tempo, sin usar la velocidad de manera absurda y sin sentido.

En cuanto a la voz, se utiliza tanto el shriek como el growl e incluso susurros en momentos puntuales. Unas voces lo suficientemente variadas para dotar a las composiciones de una atmósfera muy equilibrada en relación a la música.

Mención especial merece la producción del álbum, la cual es nítida pero sin sonar artificial, todos los detalles son perfectamente audibles y disfrutables en igual medida.

Si queréis haceros una idea de como suena este disco, la mejor muestra de ello es la canción que abre el álbum, titulada “Enlighten Salvation”, ya que reúne todas las características que encontraremos a lo largo de los siguientes minutos: Agresividad y melodía.
Por otra parte, la siguiente canción, llamada “Acosmic Ascendant”, contiene ese toque Progresivo del que hablaba anteriormente, tanto en ritmo como en los riffs de guitarra.

En conclusión, Stortregn han facturado un disco adictivo y de alta calidad, el cual no dejará indiferente a los fans del Metal Extremo.

Stortregn is a band formed in Geneva, Switzerland, in the year 2005, formerly known as Divine’s Smile and during 2006 as Addict Repulsion, from that same year pass called Stortregn. Their discography have a demo, an EP, a split along with Kaos Vortex, Eternal Storm and Will of the Ancients, in addition to three albums of long duration. The last of them was released on 27 May of the year 2016 and is titled "Singularity", via Non Serviam Records.

In "Singularity" we found a disc of Blackened Death Metal very melodic and strongly influenced by the Swedish Dissection. During the 45 minutes, the absolute protagonist are guitar melodies, which range from melodic and grandiose riffs, to acoustic and solo passages that border on the Progressive sometimes. Also, it section rhythmic not is limited only to mark the rhythm, but is becomes indispensable at the time of build the base of them songs due to the dynamism that follows, making use of several changes of tempo, without using the speed of way absurd or without sense.

With regard to the voice, is used both the shriek as the growl and even whispers at certain points. Voices sufficiently varied to give a very balanced atmosphere in relation to the music compositions.

Special mention deserves the production of the album, which is clear but without sounding artificial, all the details are perfectly audible and enjoyable in equal measure.

If you want to get an idea of sounds of the album, the best example is the song that opens the album, titled "Enlighten Salvation", since it has all the features that you will find along the following minutes: aggressiveness and melody.
On the other hand, the next song, called "Acosmic Ascendant", contains progressive touch I talked about previously, both riffs and rhythm guitar.

In conclusion, Stortregn have checked a disc addictive and high quality, which will not leave indifferent fans of the Extreme Metal.
