Crítica: Senescence – Endoomed (2015)

El camino se hizo realmente corto. Durante el trayecto solo podía pensar que no había un lugar mejor para hacer aquello. Era un paraje solitario, pero transmitía una inmensa sensación de paz. Tenía un precioso lago donde jugaba cuando era pequeño… Papá nos traía todos los veranos antes de que nos abandonara. Eran buenos tiempos, y a decir verdad llegué a comprender porqué él decidió marcharse. Desde hace unos años todo se ha ido desmoronando a mi alrededor. Desde mi vida laboral hasta la sentimental, poco a poco todo se complicó hasta que finalmente me quedé sin nada. Perdí incluso mi alma. Este sentimiento me ha ido carcomiendo hasta que finalmente ha conseguido acabar con lo poco que quedaba de mi mismo. Me puse un plazo de dos años. Quería darle una última oportunidad a la vida. El tiempo pasó y lo único que ocurrió es que deseé con más ahínco el final. Ahora después de unas tres horas de caminata veo a lo lejos mi destino. Nada había cambiado desde la última vez que lo pisé hace unos 20 años. Seguía desprendiendo la misma tranquilidad que entonces. Me senté debajo de aquel viejo árbol, y saqué del bolsillo interior de mi roída chaqueta la cuchilla. La miré durante unos instantes. La solté un momento para quitarme el abrigo. Me remangué el jersey y volví a coger la fina hoja. La tan ansiada paz estaba a punto de llegar. Me practiqué un profundo corte en cada muñeca. El punzante dolor desapareció rápidamente. Un profundo sueño me envolvía mientras observaba como la sangre salía de mi cuerpo. Mientras tanto una fina brisa se levantó mientras miraba por última vez aquella laguna. Cálidas lagrimas cayeron por mis rostro. Probé su salado sabor por última vez sabiendo que esta era la única salida para años de sufrimiento. Cerré los ojos, y poco a poco todo se tornó oscuro y plácidamente acogedor.
Bienvenidos al universo de Senescence. La tan ansiada paz por fin ha llegado.

Senescence es un combo de Doom Metal procedentes de Alemania. Iniciaron su carrera en 1995. En 1999 apareció su primer Extended play "Imperia" destrozando todo lo que se le ponía por delante con su propuesta sónica. Su siguiente paso fue la Demo "The Artificial Enemy" en el año 2000. Dos años más tarde llego el split "Harvest" compartiendo plástico junto con Ingurgitating Oblivion. Un enorme parón que hacía llegar a pensar que el grupo tristemente había dejado de existir llegó entonces. Afortunadamente en 2015 volvieron al redil con el lanzamiento de los E.Ps "In Doom There Is No Law" y "Endoomed". Este último vio la luz el 20 de diciembre de ese año, y como ya supondréis es el motivo de que existan estas agónicas esquelas.

El line up es el siguiente: Holger Dalinghaus (guitarra, bajo, baterías programadas y teclados. Ex-Funeral Procession, ex-Gallery of Darkness), Tim Klöcker (voces,guitarras, bajo, baterías programadas y teclados. Ex-Amok), Christian Pfeil (bajo y voz).

En este nuevo asalto los alemanes nos brindan un trabajo tan intimista como contundente, donde se destila dramatismo y desesperación a partes iguales. Por otro lado, y a pesar de la extensa duración de los tres temas que lo conforman, en ningún momento llegan a resultar tediosos, todo lo contrario. Su nivel de composición y estructuración es realmente bueno, haciendo las delicias de todo aquel que se atreva a escucharlo, sin que en ningún momento pierda el interés de lo aquí expuesto. Grandes estos tipos.
La producción es nítida y muy particular, cosa que ayuda dándole personalidad al grupo. Sonido único, esas palabras y cualidad tan difíciles de encontrar hoy ellos lo tienen. El artwork representa perfectamente lo que este asalto contiene. Como curiosidad, llama la atención el hecho que hayan usado la tipografía clásica de los suecos Entombed para representar el título del susodicho.

Los riffs son pesados y siniestros con instantes de dobles armonías y partes carentes de distorsión.

Los registros vocales son totalmente limpios, alejándose absolutamente de growls o similares. A decir verdad, tal y como hacen música no les hace falta para transmitir lo que desean.

La batería programada es terriblemente pesada como era de esperar, con algún atisbo de doble bombo.

Por cierto también os toparéis con levísimas pinceladas de teclado.

Al termino de esta descripción general pasemos a comentar los tres tracks que conforman esta acometida.

"The Mourner’s Claim" inicia este embiste de manera sombría solo a base de guitarras. Finalmente estalla la batería con ráfagas de doble bombo, manteniendo la sensación de desolación del comienzo. Seguidamente nos regalan dobles armonías que revienta con un riff a una cuerda desarrollando esta parte hasta incluir armónicos. Muy buena apertura que demuestra a la perfección de que pasta están hechos, y cuales son sus principales características. Bien por ellos.

"Wisdom Be Prey" es mucho más fluida que la anterior tonada, regalando momentos de psicóticos teclados. Si hubiera que describirlo con una sola palabra esta sería "desasosiego".

"And The Vultures Collapsed Into Sound" es para este humilde redactor la mejor de todas. Grandes riffs y unas decadentes voces te engancharán sin remisión.

Gran muestra de potencial. Estos chicos son una maquina bien engrasada de crear el tipo de música que ejecutan. Ahora solo queda esperar a que por fin saquen un L.P. Muy recomendado para todos aquellos que degusten estas sonoridades.

Welcome to the universe of Senescence. Peace has arrived.

Senescence is a Doom Metal band from Germany. Began their career in 1995. In 1999, it appeared their first Extended play "Imperia" destroying everything that put him ahead with its Sonic proposal. Their next step was the Demo "The Artificial Enemy" in the year 2000. Two years later came the split "Harvest" sharing album with Ingurgitating Oblivion. In this new assault them German we provide a work as intimate as forceful, where is distilled drama and desperation to parts equal. On the other hand, and despite the extensive length of the three themes that comprise it, at any time come to be boring, quite the opposite. Its level of composition and structuring is really good.

The production is crisp and very particular, which helps giving it personality to the band. Unique sound, words and quality difficult to find today. The artwork represents perfectly what this assault contains. A curiosity, attention the fact that they have used the classic typeface of Entombed to represent the title of the aforementioned.

The riffs are heavy and sinister with moments of double harmonies and lacking parts of distortion.

Vocal registers are totally clean, quite away from growls or similar.  To tell truth, as make music not them makes failure to transmit what they want.

Drums are heavy , with some glimmer of double bass.

By the way, also you will run into with keyboard.

At the end of this description general move on to comment on the three tracks that make up this E.P.

"The Mourner’s Claim" starts this onrushing of way grim only based guitars. Finally explodes the drums with bursts of double bass, keeping the feeling of desolation of the beginning. Then they give double harmonies that bursts with a riff to a string developing this part to include harmonics. Very good opening.

"Wisdom Be Prey" is much smoother than the previous song, giving moments of psychotic keyboards.

"And The Vultures Collapsed Into Sound" is the best of all for this humble Editor. Great riffs and decadent voices.

Great potential. These guys are a machine well oiled of create the kind of music that run. Highly recommended for all who taste these sonorities.
