Selvans es una banda italiana que combina el Black Metal Sinfónico con el Folk. Su carrera comenzó en el año 2014 y hasta la fecha han lanzado un EP llamado “Clangores Plenilunio” y un LP titulado “Lupercalia”, ambos a través del sello Avantgarde Music.

“Lupercalia” es probablemente uno de los mejores debuts del año 2015 e incluso de la última década. El dúo formado por Sethlans Fulguriator (Guitarras y bajo) y Selvans Haruspex (Teclados, instrumentos tradicionales, voces y programación), donde el Folk italiano, el Black Metal y las orquestaciones se entremezclan de una manera sublime, dando como resultado un álbum de una hora de duración a través de 6 canciones que te transportan a un mundo pagano anterior a la época romana. Sus composiciones contienen una versatilidad y épica digna de admiración, combinando melodía con agresividad a partes iguales, y en el que la atmósfera recreada está cuidada al mínimo detalle, tanto a través de los teclados como a través de los instrumentos tradicionales, las orquestaciones o la variedad de registros vocales.
En la parte vocal predomina el shriek, pero también encontraremos voces limpias y partes narradas con cierto tono melancólico pero agresivo, lo cual ayuda a recrear la atmósfera antes descrita.
Destacable es también la gran variedad de tempos que contienen las canciones, dándole mucha fluidez al conjunto del álbum. Aún cuando las canciones sobrepasan la mayoría los diez minutos de duración, estas no son en absoluto monótonas.
En definitiva, Selvans es una banda a tener muy en cuenta y espero que reciban el reconocimiento que se merecen, dado que “Lupercalia” es una de las obras maestras del año pasado.

Selvans is an Italian band that combines the Symphonic Black Metal with Folk. Their career began in the year 2014 and to date they have released an EP called "Clangores Moon" and an LP entitled "Lupercalia", both through Avantgarde Music.
"Lupercalia" is probably one of the best debuts of 2015 and even of the last decade. The duo formed by Sethlans Fulguriator (guitars and bass) and Selvans Haruspex (keyboards, traditional instruments, vocals and programming), where the Italian Folk, Black Metal and the orchestrations are interspersed in a sublime way, resulting in an hour-long album through 6 songs that will transport you to a previous to the Roman pagan world. Its compositions contain versatility and epic worthy of admiration, combining Melody with aggression equally, and the recreated atmosphere is careful to detail, both through keyboards and traditional instruments, orchestrations or the variety of vocal registers.
In the part vocal predominates the shriek, but also find clean voices and parts narrated with true tone melancholic but aggressive, which helps to recreate the atmosphere before described.
Noteworthy is also the wide variety of tempos that contain songs, giving much fluidity to the whole of the album. Even when the songs surpass the most them ten minutes of duration, these not are in absolute monotonous.
In conclusion, Selvans is a band to keep in mind and I hope that they get the recognition they deserve, since "Lupercalia" is one of the masterpieces of the last year.
