Crítica: Panychida – Haereticalia – The Night Battles (2016)

Panychida es una banda de Pagan Metal formada en el año 2004 en la República Checa. El 30 de mayo del 2016 lanzaron su cuarto álbum de estudio llamado “Haereticalia – The Night Battles”, a través de Cursed Records.

En esta nueva obra de Panychida, la banda ha optado por darle un enfoque más melódico con respecto a su anterior álbum “Grief for an Idol”. Mientras que en su tercer trabajo el componente Black Metal era más notable y la producción mucho más cruda, en este nuevo disco se aprecia una producción mucho más nítida y una variedad sonora mucho mayor. En “Haereticalia – The Night Battles” vamos a encontrar orquestaciones, pasajes acústicos, además de potentes y épicos riffs aderezados con solos y momentos puntuales de teclado que no hacen más que engrandecer el universo sonoro expuesto a lo largo de todo el álbum.

Toda la variedad musical está enriquecida por los múltiples registros vocales, los cuales van desde el growl hasta el shriek, pasando por susurros y narraciones.

La sección rítmica hace un trabajo absolutamente brillante, dado que se trata de un álbum conceptual, los cambios de tiempo son una constante y encontraremos tanto ritmos épicos de batalla como ritmos más acelerados y caóticos. Lo cual es un punto extra a la hora de crear las atmósferas adecuadas en relación a lo que nos están relatando.

La canción que mejor define el disco es, sin lugar a dudas, “Josafat (The Gathering)”, la cual contiene todos los elementos que encontramos a lo largo del disco. Oscura y épica a partes iguales.

Mención especial merecen los dos últimos bonus tracks, “Alatyri” y “Thee Pilars”, las cuales están grabadas en directo en el 10º aniversario de Panychida en el Parlament Club de Pilsen en la República Checa, mostrando toda la fuerza que la banda despliega en vivo y con un sonido realmente bueno.

En definitiva, Panychida es una banda que merece un mayor reconocimiento y espero que lo consigan a partir de este álbum. Si te gusta el Pagan Metal, las leyendas y los mitos, no debes perdértelos.

Panychida is a Pagan Metal band formed in 2004 in the Czech Republic. On May 30, 2016 released their fourth Studio album called "Haereticalia – The Night Battles", via Cursed Records.

In this new work of Panychida, the band has chosen to give a more melodic approach to their previous album "Grief for an Idol". While in their third album Black Metal component was more remarkable and production much more raw, in this new album shows a clearer production and a greater variety of sound. "Haereticalia – The Night Battles" will find orchestrations, acoustic passages, as well as powerful and epic riffs with single and specific moments of keyboard do no more than enlarge the Sonic universe exposed throughout the whole album.

All the variety musical is enriched by the multiple records vocal, which goes from the growl to the shriek, passing by whispers and narrations.

The rhythm section does a work quite bright, given that it is a concept album, time changes are a constant and find both epic battle rhythms such as more rapid and chaotic rhythms. Which is an extra point when creating atmospheres suitable in relation to what they are telling us.

The song that best defines the disk is, without a doubt, "Josafat (The Gathering)", which contains all the elements that we find throughout the disc. Dark and epic in equal parts.

Mention special merit the last two bonus tracks, "Alatyri" and "Thee Pilars", which are recorded live in the 10 th anniversary of Panychida in the Parlament Club of Pilsen in the Czech Republic, showing all the strength that the band displayed live and with a really good sound.

In short, Panychida is a band that deserves greater recognition, and I hope that they succeed from this album. If you like Pagan Metal, legends and myths, you should not miss them.
