Old Forest es una banda de Black Metal inglesa formada en Sussex en el año 1998 que se mantuvo activa hasta el año 2001, pero en el 2007 se volvió a reformar y continúa hasta nuestros días. En su discografía cuentan con tres demos, dos EP’s, dos recopilatorios y tres álbumes de estudio, habiendo lanzado el último de ellos a finales del año 2015, titulado “Dagian”, y del cual nos ocupamos en esta reseña.

El line-up de Old Forest se conforma de Kobold a la voz y sintetizador (Ewigkeit, In the Woods…, Jaldaboath, Svartelder, The Bombs of Enduring Freedom, Blacksmoke, Con.Dev.Ex, The Feral Undercall, ex-The Meads of Asphodel), Beleth a la guitarra y bajo y Lord Grond a la batería (Orcrypt).
Este último L.P de Old Forest cuenta con cuatro canciones y una duración aproximada de algo menos de 50 minutos en los que el Black Metal es el estilo predominante, pero también se encuentran elementos del Doom, el Folk y el Progresivo, dando como resultado un viaje donde la creación de atmósferas es su mayor cualidad, debido en gran parte al uso del sintetizador. Hay que destacar que a pesar de la duración de las canciones, una media de 10 minutos, es un álbum muy dinámico, gracias a la lograda épica compositiva donde se dan cita múltiples tempos, desde el mid-tempo, el down-tempo o el up-tempo, la variedad de voces que impregnan cada una de las canciones, desde shrieks tipicamente black metaleros hasta voces limpias y la gran multitud de melodías que evocan un mar de sensaciones.
En definitiva, “Dagian” es un álbum con el que desconectar del ajetreado mundo y dejarse llevar por cada uno de sus detalles. Si te gustan bandas como Agalloch o Drudkh, sin duda no deberías dejar de escuchar esta banda.

This last L.P of Old Forest has four songs and an approximate duration of less than 50 minutes in which Black Metal is the predominant style, but elements of Doom, Folk and progressive, resulting in a journey where the creation of atmospheres is higher quality, due in large part to the use of the synthesizer are also.
