Crítica: Hooded Eagle – Nightscapes from the Abyssal Plane (2015)

"BrokenTomb"

[English below]

Nosotros volveríamos a dominar nuestro añorado mar.

Personalmente destacaría "I Have Dreams…", "…of Cosmic Horror" y "The Path of Eternal Sorrow" por las siguientes razones:

¡Espectacular!

"BrokenTomb"

[English version]

After having massacred the abyssals, creating hybrids between us and them, we become the new intelligent underwater civilization. Our blue-colored skin, our pointed ears and our gills in the neck characterized us in the early stages of our own evolution. In a principle we lived in harmony with those monsters that came from the sky. They dominated the surface for thousands of years. But we were ambitious. The senior members of my race began to conspire against the powerful beings of the surface. We soon try to climb and finish them, but our body not allowed us to spend too much time out of our element. The counterattack was swift, and those who came from the stars finished with us. Passed million of years, and the survivors of the massacre is adapted to live on land. Our color changed, giving way to another of purple dye, disappearing our guts. But something inside us was that we had a special attachment by sea.
Humans appeared in the world and by dark arts ousted the Devils that came from space. Meanwhile, and observing what was happening, we kept us apart and hidden. Shortly after took place something unusual, all that belonged to that lineage underwater, started to have some strange nightmares. In them the extraterrestrial monsters proposed us a deal, unite our forces to retake the planet. They would be the owners of the mountains and the valleys. We would dominate our sea. You only had a road; ¡¡Annihilate people!!
Welcome to the universe of Hooded Eagle, the apocalypse is near.

Hooded Eagle is a blackened doom metal sludge band coming from the United States. Formed in 2009, took a year in having prepared its first demo "Hooded Eagle E. P". " It was there where they began their legacy of chaos and desperation sonic. Since then, have given us a single in 2011 "Two Counts of Perjury", and the split with Wolf Lord of 2013 entitled simply "Wolf Lord / Hooded Eagle".
Finally, two years later, on 13, December of 2015 came out to the market their first L.P. released by the label Swamp Metal Records, and baptized with the name of "Nightscapes from the Abyssal Plane", this album is the guilty of that these dying obituaries have been created.

The line up is: Bobby Blackheart (guitar and vocals), Lynn Wise (bass and vocals), Mark Appelt (drums, vocals. ex-Sentinel and Sonant), Matt Wolfe (guitar).

In this first album Americans offered us a work that transports us to a desolate place, with a tremendous stink corpse and anger. Its structure is dense as Rock, with a clear preference for the more agonizing forcefulness. However the surprise comes with the inclusion of a good and grateful moments of speed.

The riffs are dark, slow and dramatic, with a clear vein blacker that exploits in those times accurate. All this seasoned with some solos of guitar, and moments in clean.

Voices are torn and desperate.

Drums are a steamroller. Its rhythms devastate everything that gets in its path. By the way, attentive to the moments of up tempo, including moments of blast beats.

Not only bass lines are worked, but use of distortion is absolutely destructive. These types know what do.

At the end of this description general move on to comment on the best tracks of this album.
Personally would highlight "I Have Dreams…", "…of Cosmic Horror" and "The Path of Eternal Sorrow" for the following reasons:

"I Have Dreams…" shows us a sense of progression that is sure you will leave with a smile on your face. Starts with a fluid riff and up tempo, then go slowing down to become in funeral doom. Spectacular!

"…of Cosmic Horror" you will hook by its melancholy.

"The Path of Eternal Sorrow" is probably the song more complete of all. Each detail mentioned is present in this song of 18 minutes. Your neck will be injured.

Great Long Play of a band with a great future. If you like this type of radical sounds don’t should miss the opportunity to hear them.
