Blaze Out, previamente llamados Bustin’Out, comenzó su carrera en el año 2009 y un año más tarde lanzaron su primer EP llamado “Shining Blood”. Tres años más tarde, la banda formada por Gerard Rigau (voz, guitarra), Carles Comas (bajo, coros), Victor Catalá (guitarra principal, coros) y Rafa Weber (batería), lanzaron su primer larga duración llamado “Headshot”, recibiendo muy buenas críticas y llegando a tocar incluso en el Resurrection Fest. Tras la salida de Victor de la banda, David Lleonart entra en la banda para hacer las labores de guitarra principal y coros, después de este cambio de formación, vuelven a entrar en el estudio y el día 8 de Abril del año 2016 lanzaron su segundo álbum llamado “Backlash”.

“Backlash” se compone de nueve temas en el que la tónica general podría ser descrita en una sola palabra: Versatilidad. Los barceloneses se mueven como pez en el agua a través de multitud de estilos y este disco es un gran ejemplo de ello. A lo largo de sus cuarenta y dos minutos de duración nos vamos a encontrar con pinceladas de Hard Rock, Groove, Metalcore, Heavy Metal e incluso Thrash.
Si hay algo que destaca en este LP es la gran calidad que tienen cada uno de los componentes de Blaze Out. Los solos de guitarra son realmente buenos y los riffs van desde el Thrash de su última canción “Burn the Veil” hasta los riffs de raíces más Metalcore incluidos en “Truth in Chains”.
Rafa Weber a la batería le da un plus de fuerza al conjunto del álbum moviéndose perfectamente a través de diferentes tempos y Carles Comas no sólo se limita a complementar la sección rítmica con el bajo, sino que cobra especial protagonismo, sobre todo en la canción “Fist Goes First”. Por otro lado la variedad de registros de Gerard Rigau dotan a “Backlash” de una gran frescura, por una parte podemos encontrar registros más graves y reposados en la balada “Old Acquaintances”, la cual personalmente me recordó en gran medida a Alice in Chains, hasta registros más agudos como los que se encuentran en “Fist Goes First” o las pinceladas más agresivas y oscuras de “Age of the Waste”.
En resumen, Blaze Out han lanzado un álbum muy completo que puede que no guste a los más puristas, pero lo que queda claro es que han combinado muchos estilos de una manera sobresaliente y la frescura que destila es innegable. En mi opinión se le debería dar una oportunidad porque lo que queda claro es que calidad no le falta.

Blaze Out, previously called Bustin’Out, began his career in 2009 and a year later released their first EP called "Shining Blood". Three years later, the band formed by Gerard Rigau (vocals, guitar), Carles Comas (bass, vocals), Victor Catalá (lead guitar, vocals) and Rafa Weber (drums), released their first full length called "Headshot", receiving critical acclaim and reaching to touch even in the Resurrection Fest. After the departure of the band Victor, David Lleonart enters to the band to make the work of lead guitar and choirs, after this change of formation, re-enter in the Studio and on 8 April of the year 2016 released their second album called "Backlash".
"Backlash" is made up of nine themes in which the general trend could be described in one word: versatility. The band moves very good through a multitude of styles and this album is a great example of this. Throughout its forty-two minutes we find with touches of Groove, Hard Rock, Heavy Metal, Metalcore, and even Thrash.
Rafa Weber to the battery gives a plus of strength to the whole of the album playing perfectly through different tempos and Carles Comas is not only limited to complement the rhythm section with bass, but it takes on special prominence, especially in the song "Fist Goes First". On the other hand the variety of Gerard Rigau records give "Backlash" a great freshness, on the one hand we can find records more serious and restful in the ballad "Old Acquaintances", which personally reminded me largely to Alice in Chains to record more acute as those found in “Fist Goes First” or the brush strokes more aggressive and dark of "Age of the Waste".
In short, Blaze Out have released a full album that may not like to the purists, but what is clear is that they have combined many styles in an outstanding manner and the freshness that distills is undeniable. In my opinion should be given a chance because what is clear is that quality is not lacking.
