Crítica: Acheronte – Ancient Furies (2016)

Acheronte es una banda de Black Metal formada en Italia durante el año 2010. Su discografía contiene una demo, un EP, dos splits junto Kephra y Black Faith, por una parte, y Noctifer, Hate Them All y Arma Christi, por otra. Durante el verano de este mismo año lanzaron su primer álbum de larga duración llamado “Ancient Furies”, a través de Satanath Records.

“Ancient Furies” está formado por 7 canciones dedicadas a 7 gobernantes sanguinarios de la Historia, tales como Attila, Vlad III o Assurnasirpal II, donde principalmente predomina el Black Metal crudo y rápido a base de caóticos riffs de guitarra y blastbeats, pero además, también vamos a encontrar riffs más tipicamente enfocados al Blackened Death Metal; a medio tiempo y donde la melodía hace acto de presencia en forma de armonizaciones tales que denotan una sensación de grandilocuencia muy acertada en consonancia con los temas líricos de cada una de las canciones.

Lo que más me ha sorprendido han sido los diferentes registros vocales de Lord Baal, desde el shriek, hasta ciertas incursiones en el growl, pasando por un tono agónico y pútrido, en la línea de Dagon de Inquisition. Lo cual ayuda a recrear múltiples atmósferas.

Por desgracia, la producción no ayuda a disfrutar de los riffs y los detalles en su totalidad, ya que en ocasiones la exagerada crudeza del sonido convierte la música en un barullo ininteligible. Y en esta ocasión, no le favorece en absoluto.

Si tuviera que elegir la mejor canción del álbum, sin duda elegiría “Blood for the Gods (Ahuitzotl)”. Este track contiene todos los elementos que caracterizan el disco: Black Metal crudo, múltiples tempos e incluso un instante de guitarra limpia.

Acheronte es una buena banda a la que solo le falta pulir ciertos detalles, pero seguro que en un futuro pueden llegar a dar mucho que hablar. Si te gusta el Black Metal, dales una oportunidad.

Acheronte is a Black Metal band formed in Italy during the year 2010. Them discography contains a demo, one EP, two splits together Khephra and Black Faith, on the one hand, and Noctifer, Hate Them All and Arma Christi, by another hand. During the summer of 2016 they released their first full-length album called "Ancient Furies", through Satanath Records.

"Ancient Furies" is formed by 7 songs dedicated to 7 rulers bloodthirsty of the history, such as Attila, Vlad III or Assurnasirpal II, where mainly dominates the Raw Black Metal and fast based chaotic riffs of guitar and blastbeats, but also, we are going to find riffs more typically focused to the Blackened Death Metal; mid-tempos where the melody makes Act of presence in form of harmonization such that denote a feeling of bombast very successful in keeping with the lyrical themes of the songs.

What most surprised me have been the different records vocal of Lord Baal, from the shriek, to some incursions into the growl, going through an agonizing and putrid tone like Dagon of Inquisition. Which helps to recreate multiple atmospheres.

By misfortune, the production not helps to enjoy of them riffs and them details in its whole, since in occasions it exaggerated rawness of the sound makes the music in a stir unintelligible. And on this occasion, not favors it at all.

If had to choose the best song of the album, no doubt would choose "Blood for the Gods (Ahuitzotl)". This track contains all the elements that characterize the album: Raw Black Metal, multiple tempos and a moment of clean guitar.
