Fifth to Infinity es una banda sueca formada en el año 1997 por Jonas Reslan (ex – Vinterkrig), Martin Lopez (Ex – Opeth, ex-Amon Amarth, ex- Eternal, ex – Requiem Aeternam, ex – Vinterkrig) y Martin Mendez (Opeth, ex- Eternal, ex-Requiem Aeternam, ex-Proxima, ex-Vinterkrig) surgida de las cenizas de Vinterkrig. En el año 2000 la banda estuvo a punto de debutar con su primer L.P, pero por desafortunadas circunstancias no pudo ser en esa ocasión y la banda se mantuvo inactiva hasta que en el año 2007, cuando Jonas Reslan y Martín Lopez volvieron a reunirse, reclutando al bajista David Lindh en el año 2013. Finalmente, a finales del año 2015 vio la luz su álbum debut, titulado “Omnipotent Transdimensional Soulfire”.

Si tuviera que describir el álbum de Fifth to Infinity con unos pocos adjetivos, lo haría con las palabras “oscuro y elegante”, porque si algo está claro es que sus casi 60 minutos de duración son un viaje plagado de detalles muy bien encajados, pero sobre todo desprenden oscuridad en cada sonido y en cada silencio.

En “Omnipotent Transdimensional Soulfire” se dan cita varios géneros, entre ellos encontraremos el Black Metal con toques progresivos como estilo predominante, pero a su vez también hay cabida para el Doom o pinceladas de Death melódico, dando como resultado lo que se podría denominar como Dark Metal. Su atmósfera pausada con el mid-tempo como protagonista, es la manera ideal de percibir por completo todas y cada una de las canciones, pero también vamos a encontrar cambios de tempo plagados de tremolos, pasajes melódicos o riffs disonantes, dotando de mucha versatilidad al disco y creando una multitud de sensaciones que van desde la melancolía a la pura rabia.

Personalmente, considero que las mejores canciones de este álbum son “Death Shall Wake Us All”, “The Will To Harm” y “The Fall Of The Seven”.

“Death Shall Wake Us All” es una de las canciones más black metaleras, siendo la característica principal la melodía a modo de tremolo ejecutada casi durante todo el tema, el cual tiene un sonido muy similar al de Dissection. Lo que está claro es que la huella sueca se percibe de principio a fin.

“The Will To Harm” es posiblemente una de las canciones mas doomies. El ritmo pausado y las tonalidades graves junto a riffs disonantes es la seña de identidad de este tema.

“The Fall Of The Seven” contiene una atmósfera muy opresiva, lleno de riffs disonantes y es un buen ejemplo de las múltiples sensaciones que Fifth to Infinity son capaces de crear.

En conclusión, “Omnipotent Transdimensional Soulfire” es un álbum muy bien trabajado que no deja nada al azar y que te atrapa desde el primer acorde hasta el último, sin sonar repetitivo o monótono en ningún momento.

Fifth to Infinity is a Swedish band formed in the year 1997 by Jonas Reslan (ex-Vinterkrig), Martin Lopez (Ex-Opeth, ex-Amon Amarth, ex-Eternal, ex-Requiem Aeternam, ex-Vinterkrig) and Martin Mendez (Opeth, ex-Eternal, ex-Requiem Aeternam, ex-Proxima, ex-Vinterkrig) emerged of them ashes of Vinterkrig. In the year 2000 the band was closed to debut with their first L.P, but by unfortunate circumstances not could be in that occasion and the band is kept inactive until in the year 2007, when Jonas Reslan and Martin Lopez returned to meet is, recruiting to the bassist David Lindh in the year 2013. Finally, at the end of the year 2015, their debut album, titled "Omnipotent Transdimensional Soulfire" saw the light.

If I had to describe the Fifth to Infinity’s album with a few adjectives, it would with the words "dark and elegant", because if anything is clear, it is that its almost 60 minutes are a full trip details very well embedded, but above all evolve darkness in every sound and every silence.

"Omnipotent Transdimensional Soulfire" contains several genres, you will find Black Metal with progressive touches as the predominant style, but at the same time there is space for Doom or brushstrokes of melodic Death, resulting in what could be termed as Dark Metal. Its atmosphere paused with the mid-tempo as the protagonist, is the ideal way of perceiving completely each and every one of the songs, but we will also find littered with tempo changes of treble, melodic passages or dissonant riffs, providing great versatility to the disk and creating a multitude of sensations ranging from melancholy to the pure rage.

In my opinion, the best songs of this album are “Death Shall Wake Us All”, “The Will To Harm” and “The Fall Of The Seven”.

"Death Shall Wake Us All" is a song more purely black metal, being the characteristic main the melody to mode of tremolo executed almost during all the theme, which has a sound very similar to the of Dissection. What is clear is that Swedish footprint is perceived from beginning to end.

"The Will To Harm" is possibly one of the songs more doomies. The pace and the serious tones along with dissonant riffs is the hallmark of this song.

"The Fall Of The Seven" contains a very oppressive atmosphere, full of dissonant riffs and it is a good example of the multiple sensations as Fifth to Infinity are capable of creating.

In conclusion, "Omnipotent Transdimensional Soulfire" is a very well-worked album that does not leave nothing to chance and that grabs you from the first chord to the last, without sounding monotonous or repetitive at any time.
