En Diciembre del año 2015, los fineses Ancestors Blood y los holandeses Heervader juntaron fuerzas para dar a luz un split que desprende paganismo puro y duro.

Heervader
Los holandeses Heervader comenzaron su carrera en el año 2002, pero no fue hasta el año 2008 que lanzaron su primera demo, un año más tarde lanzaron un split junto a las bandas Heimdalls Wacht y Winterlieke. Su última publicación fue el split del cual hablamos en esta reseña.
Por su parte contribuyen a este split con tres canciones pertenecientes a su demo, las cuales son “Berserkgangr”, “Bloedbroeder van de Aarde” y “Voorwaarts!”.
Musicalmente las características principales de Heervader son las propias del Pagan Black Metal; tremolos de guitarras distorsionadas y pasajes de guitarra acústica. Por otra parte, el mid-tempo es lo que predomina a través de las tres canciones, lo cual le da un aire de mayor majestuosidad a las melodías medievales de las que se componen. Los registros vocales son varios, siendo el predominante los shrieks puramente black metaleros, pero también hay instantes de voces limpias en contraposición a las voces rasgadas y es en este punto donde, por desgracia, la unión de ambas no termina de cuajar y le resta enteros al equilibrio de las armonías en los dos primeros temas. En cambio, la última canción se compone de shrieks y coros más melódicos, los cuales casan a la perfección.
Para que os hagáis una idea del sonido de sus canciones, se puede afirmar sin temor a equivocarse, que muy posiblemente hayan sido fuertemente influenciados por el álbum “Dark Medieval Times” de Satyricon.

Ancestors Blood
Los fineses Ancestors Blood se formaron en el año 2002 y practican un Pagan Black Metal de corte más atmósferico que sus compañeros de split Heervader. Su discografía se compone de cuatro demos, un EP, una recopilación de las canciones de sus demos, tres splits junto a Profezia y Hunok, además del split aquí reseñado y tres álbumes de larga duración.
Por el lado de Ancestors Blood encontramos cuatro canciones, siendo la primera de ellas una versión en estudio, grabada exclusivamente para este split, titulada “Deceiver for Power and Glory” y los tres temas siguientes titulados “Ritual of the Sacred Dance”, “Revelation (Beyond Death)” y “Rise of the Spirits of Ancient Heroes” grabados en directo en el festival Veneration of the Dead, celebrado en el año 2014 en Holanda.
En este caso, cabe destacar el sonido de las canciones en directo, el cual es bueno en comparación al sonido de esas mismas canciones en estudio, con la diferencia de que en directo están tocadas a mayor velocidad, como es lógico. Ancestors Blood hace un uso mayoritario de los teclados, con lo que la atmósfera lograda es mucho más poderosa y épica que la de sus compañeros. Personalmente, me ha recordado al sonido del álbum “For All Tid” de Dimmu Borgir. Un sonido pausado pero grandilocuente, junto a shrieks y tremolos.
En conclusión, si no conoces a ninguna de las dos bandas, esta es una buena oportunidad para descubrirlas y adentrarse en el universo pagano de ambas. Quizás hubiera sido mejor que todas las canciones de Ancestors Blood hubieran sido en estudio, pero aún así, no le restan fuerza al conjunto del split.

In December of 2015, Dutch Heervader and the Finnish Ancestors Blood joined forces to create a split that exudes pure paganism.
Heervader
Heervader began his career in the year 2002, but not was until the year 2008 that released their first demo, one year later released a split belong to the bands Heimdalls Wacht and Winterlieke. Their last publication was the split of which we discussed in this review.

Musically the main features of Heervader are those of the Pagan Black Metal; tremolos of distorted guitars and passages of acoustic guitar. On the other hand, the mid-tempo is what prevails through three songs, which gives it an air of greater Majesty to medieval melodies. Vocal registers are several, being predominantly the shrieks purely black metallers, but there are also moments of clean voices as opposed to the torn vocals and is at this point where, unfortunately, the union of both fails to materialize and removing consistency to the balance of the harmonies in the first two songs. On the other hand, the last song is composed of shrieks and more melodic choruses, which is married to perfection.
To get you an idea of the sound of their songs, it can be said without fear to be wrong, that very possibly have been strongly influenced by "Dark Medieval Times".

Ancestors Blood
The Finnish Ancestors Blood formed in 2002 and practiced a Pagan Black Metal more atmospheric than their comrades from split, Heervader. Their discography is composed for four demos, an EP, a compilation of the songs of their demos, three splits belong to Profezia and Hunok, in addition to the split here reviewed and three long-playing albums.
On the side of Ancestors Blood we found four songs, the first of them being a Studio version, recorded exclusively for this split, titled "Deceiver for Power and Glory" and the three following songs entitled "Ritual of the Sacred Dance", "Revelation (Beyond Death)" and "Rise of the Spirits of Ancient Heroes" recorded at Veneration of the Dead festival , celebrated in the year 2014 in Holland.

In conclusion, if you don’t know any of the two bands, this is a good opportunity to discover them and enter the pagan world of both. Perhaps it would be better that all songs from Ancestors Blood would have been in study, but even so, not subtract strength to the split.
